- First patients complete a series of 99 true/false questions. Each question describes a behavioral pattern that is consistent with a symptom of a personality disorder.
Patients can answer questions using the keybaord or the mouse.
- If sufficient symptoms of a particular disorder are indicated, the clinical significance of the behaviors is determined by asking additional questions on the duration of the behavioral pattern, whether the behaviors occur only in particular situations, and if the behaviors are related to other factors like alcohol/drug abuse, health or other mental health problems.
- Results are saved as text files or displayed graphically and saved.
- Results may also be saved in spreadsheet format or in a format suitable for input into the SPSS (c) statistical package.
- Each on-line testing session takes 15-20 min and does not require direct supervision of the patient.
- For diagnostic purposes, the text output from the PDQ-4 screening session can be quickly reviewed with the patient to confirm diagnosis.
- The PDQ-4 saves valuable consulting/interview time by identifying only significant maladaptive behavioral patterns.
